The Ain Dah Yung Center’s Open House on May 25, 2011 was a great success! We are so pleased that approximately 155 people attended from our community, funders, our County partners and many friends. We were very proud to kick off the “Honoring Our Allies” series by honoring Becky Montgomery, Ramsey County Planning Specialist for Family and Children’s Services, for her work and commitment to American Indian children, families and our community. We were also pleased to recognize a former Youth Lodge resident – Blue Spearman Jones – who after graduating from the Youth Lodge Program has been attending MCTC, working, and continues to participate in the Ain Dah Yung Center drum group. In addition, Travis DeCory (ADYC staff member) honored long-time American Indian community member and traditional leader, Jerry Dearly, with a drum that he made in expression of our appreciation for a song he made earlier this year for the Ain Dah Yung Center.
A HUGE thanks goes out to all the staff and volunteers of ADYC for a fabulous meal of frybread, buffalo burgers, wild rice and various salads.
